May-June 2014 (actual: 4/20/2015 - 6/14/2015)

  • Intermediate-Depth Drill field test in Greenland

Nov 2014 - Jan 2015 (drill season #1)

  • Drill installed at SP and drilling ops begin, with target depth of 700m (actual ending depth: 736m)
  • Ice above brittle ice zone (~500m) retrograded to NICL
  • Brittle ice stored underground at SP over winter and allowed to relax

Summer 2015

  • Core processing line at the National Ice Core Laboratory (NICL) - 3 weeks (actual: 5/26/2015 - 6/12/2015; ending depth 555m)

Fall 2015

  • PI workshop to discuss early results (actual: 9/22/2016)

Nov 2015 - Jan 2016 (drill season #2)

  • Finished drilling to 1751m (surpassed target ending depth of 1500m)
  • Brittle ice drilled during the previous field season retrograded to NICL; most ductile ice drilled this season also returned to NICL
  • Brittle ice drilled this season stored underground at SP over winter and allowed to relax

Summer 2016

  • NICL core processing line - approx. 3 weeks (actual: 6/6/2016 - 6/24/2016)

Fall 2016

  • PI workshop to discuss results (actual: 9/19/2016 - 9/20/2016)

Nov 2016 - Jan 2017

  • Retrograde brittle ice and deepest ductile ice from the prior season's drilling

Summer 2017

  • NICL core processing line - approx. 4 weeks

Fall 2017

  • PI workshop to discuss results
